Born 1957, Tokyo, Japan. Miyajima’s founds his works on the following three concepts; continuous transformation, interconnectedness of all entities, and infinite continuation. These concepts are closely linked with the conceptual arts, which are made manifest in his art production and experimentation with these chiefly take shape through the use of LED digital numberings. His first debut to the international art scene was The Sea of Time of the Aprerto section at the Venice Biennale 1988, and brought him much international credit. Since then, his works are frequently displayed in major museum exhibitions including the large scale installation, Mega Death at Japanese Pavilion, The 48th Venice Biennale. Miyajima currently lives and works in Ibaraki.
