Born 1966, Gifu, Japan. Ikeda, working in the U.S.A, has been acclaimed as one of the leading artist is the field of experimental music since his astonishing debut in the mid- 1990s. His quick participation in the new wave of electronic music has brought him wide-spread attention as a sound-artist. The advanced sound technology enables him to manipulate sound waves via the Macintosh Power Book installed in his computer. Using as its basis the variations of tone colors carefully selected ranging from both ultra high and low frequencies, Ikeda’s music is an assemblage of tones and beats of various qualities. It can be described as an undulation of sound pressures, an orchestration of sound waves audiences are yet to experience. Dataplex of 2005 is and example of one of his recent works. In addition, his participation as sound director of Dumb Type, lead by Furuhashi Teiji in 1984, must also be noted. Ikeda currently lives and works in Paris.
