Born 1967, Miyazaki, Japan. Having graduated the Musashino Art University, he started his career as a manga artist in 1995, and now he occasionally offers illustration works for the press and publishing houses including Comic Cue, Mizue, and Cyzo. His works are unique in his omission of speech balloons, which in usual mangas constitutes an important role in the process of storytelling. Yokoyama is thus able to position figures and images within the space of the frame as freely as he wishes. Providing extra space in the frame, he does not proceed to fill it up with detailed, abundant figures. Rather, he preserves the simplicity by keeping details to a minimum with occasional onomatopoeia, allowing readers to understand the comic with ease and also providing enough room for individual interpretations. Yokoyama currently lives and works in Saitama.
